ReviewsC5010 Timer The C5010 Timer is an extremely user friendly device for sailing club racing. It counts up in: seconds, hours, minutes and seconds 1/100 second to 59 minutes It is an alarm, normal clock. It takes up little room, is robust and has a long life battery.5 Dai Griffiths Sailing Sec. Herne Bay Sailing Club onThis is primarily a watch I will use for sailing, big display, easy to see and programme for countdown, and waterproof. I also use it to allow me to plan my schedule in an exam hall at the end of timed exams (countdown). Very useful. A simple straightfoward and good value product, delivered very promptly.5 Ranjit Verghese onThe watch is used for the countdown at the beginning of sailboat races and to time the race. The watch has worked extremely well and its large face makes it very easy to read. The audible alarms are also helpful. It was easy to program and was similar to other watches in this regard. The watch arrived in Canada in excellent shape in a very timely fashion. Very good value for the money and highly recommended.5 Al onI bought this watch for sailing, where the countdown alarm is critical for starts. I also wanted the velcro strap so that it was easily worn on bare skin as well as over a sailing jacket. The extra large display is exceedingly easy to read which is ideal when you are busy sheeting in etc and where the face is likely to be subject to spray. There are a couple of very minor niggles for me but these may not niggle others and are too slight to mention let alone warrant a 4 star rating. Thoroughly recommend, especially for the price!5 Ben onThe large display is absolutely excellent for use when sailing. Watch arrived on time and the ordering process was easy. I have recommended Ffasttime on yachts and yachting forum on several occasion’s.4 Gordon Kingston-Minnis onThis is just what I needed for sailing. It’s easy to set up so it counts down from the ten minute gun, the alarm goes on the start time for 20 seconds and then turns off without having to fumble for a button (important when you’ve got your hands full at the most critical moments of the race), and the elapsed time starts to count up so by the end of the race I can see the total time since the start and work out our handicap position from that. The nylon strap with velcro closure is really good as the watch is secured to it on a loop of strong elastic, which means if it gets caught it doesn’t rip or injure your wrist. Great stuff, and very reasonably priced. The only reason I reserve the 5th star is I’d like the countdown to be just in minutes (rather than hours and minutes) so it would be even easier to read. But that’s a very minor and specific issue, and I’m really happy with this purchase. So happy that I’m going to order two more and keep them for when the first one (inevitably!) gets destroyed or lost overboard.4 Gavin R on1 of 1
The RW3 Digital Sailing Watch is most suitable for sailing as it has a prestart countdown option with time of day and stopwatch on the same display. As quoted by a user:
"The time storage and prestart combo would suit me for the sailing race series I sometimes crew in. Prestart fits with the "5 minute warning" etc start sequence and we are asked to submit race start and finish times (time of day) to the results people. The race may be scheduled to start at 11:00:00 but in reality may go at, say, 11:03:15 so can't just rely on the scheduled time.
Alternatively if you just want to take times without storing them in memory we recommend the Fastime DB1 Waterproof stopwatch or the Fastime DB2 stopwatch.
The SW3 Digital Sailing watch is ideal as it has a large display with stopwatch and countdown timer and is waterproof to 50m
If you want a basic stopwatch have a look at the Fastime 25 entry level stopwatch with a rear battery door or the Fastime 1 Jumbo display stopwatch. Both have the same functions but the Fastime 1 stopwatch is more robust and has a bigger display. However neither are waterproof.
