Lap Split Stopwatches

Lap split timing measures the time elapsed during a specific segment or lap of an event, rather than the total time from the start. This function is used to analyse consistency and pacing for individual segments of a race or workout.

 How Lap Split Timing Works

When using the lap split function:

  • The stopwatch's main timer continues running in the background, measuring the overall event time.
  • When the Lap/Split button is pressed at the end of a lap (e.g. crossing the finish line of a track lap), the display momentarily freezes.
  • The time shown on the display is the duration that passed since the last time the lap button was pressed.
  • After a few seconds (on some models) or after another button press, the display reverts to the continuously running total time, ready to record the next lap's time.

In lap timing mode, you can quickly see the performance of each individual segment, allowing for immediate comparison of pacing.
