Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE)
Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive & Regulations
The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations are a requirement under European law intended to minimize the impact of electrical and electronic goods on the environment. The core aims are to increase the re-use and recycling of equipment and reduce the amount of WEEE sent to landfill.
This is achieved by making producers responsible for the financing of collection, treatment, and recovery of waste equipment, and obliging distributors (like us) to allow consumers to return their waste equipment free of charge ("Take-back").
Our WEEE Compliance & Take-Back Arrangement
As a wholesaler and distributor who supplies new Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE), we are obliged to offer a take-back arrangement to our customers.
In accordance with Regulation 31, we offer a free take-back service on a one-for-one, like-for-like basis:
- We will take back waste stopwatches and other products (WEEE) sold through our website and delivered to a private household, provided that the waste equipment:
- is of equivalent type to the equipment supplied, and
- has fulfilled the same function as the equipment supplied.
To receive instructions on how to return your WEEE items to us, please contact us on +44(0)7483 134 796.
We also have an arrangement in place with our manufacturers to sort, reuse, and recycle materials and components returned under this scheme.
The Meaning of the Crossed-Out Wheeled Bin Symbol
You will find the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol on our products and/or packaging.
This symbol indicates that the product falls under the WEEE regulations. It does not indicate that the product is banned from general waste disposal, but rather reminds you that recycling facilities exist throughout the UK for these items.
We strongly encourage you to separate your WEEE and discard it separately from your other household waste to ensure environmentally sound treatment and recovery. We also need to advise you of the potential effects on the environment and human health where there are any hazardous substances within the products we supply.
